New Ryobi 18V HP Brushless Track Saw & Table Saw & 10″ Miter Saw

We’ve known for several years now that Ryobi has been stepping up their game and they confirm it again with three new cordless brushless saws that push Ryobi ahead even further with a new 10″ sliding miter saw, 6-1/2″ track saw, and 8-1/2″ table saw. All three are 18V power tools and have brushless motors! Ryobi says we can expect all three in April 2022.

Above is the family photo of all three new brushless saws and while Ryobi has had plenty of cordless miter saws before, this is the first time since they’ve had a cordless track saw and I would have never guessed that Ryobi would come out with their own cordless table saw, and it’s running on an 18 volt battery!

MODELS:
PBLMS01B (TOOL-ONLY)
PBLMS01K (KIT W/ 4Ah HIGH PERFORMANCE BATTERY)
MSRP: $349/$399

While this isn’t the first time Ryobi’s had a cordless 10″ sliding miter saw, it is their first to be powered by a single 18v battery as the last time they had a 10″ inch slider that was battery powered, it used two 18V batteries to make 36V power. That means that you’ll only need to use a single battery for this model which is good if you only have one battery or not many to spare. It needs a powerful motor to run a larger 10″ saw blade and that’s thanks to its brushless motor that pumps out a strong 4,100 no load RPM.

Ryobi 18 volt users now have a strong option for a larger 10″ sliding miter saw that runs off battery power and it provides up to 12 inches of cross cut capacity. It also offers up to 47 degree miter cutting angles to the right and left sides. It comes with an LED cutline indicator which means that it has LED’s on the sides of the blade that cast a thin cutline shadow where the cut will be made. This is a better cutline indicator than Lasers as lasers need to be calibrated to work properly and don’t take the thickness of the blade into consideration. It also has plenty of carry handles and comes with a material clamp. Ryobi claims that runtime is a strong up to 550 cuts per charge with a 4ah battery which is very good if it can match its claims!

While Ryobi is a brand that sells solid tools for their price points, they aren’t exactly known to have all the best features and that tradition continues here. For example there is no mention of double bevel which means that it is a single bevel saw. Whether that’s a deal breaker is up to you but if you want to make bevel cuts in both directions, you will need to flip boards. Next is also a big deal, as it doesn’t look to offer a large vertical cut capacity as shown by its smaller fences. In fact, Ryobi doesn’t include vertical cutting height at the time of writing so it’s probably nothing to brag about. My guess is 3-4 inches and probably enough to clear 4x material in one pass. Lastly, the miter lock method is a twist knob, my least favorite method of locking miter angles in place.

Ryobi is also no stranger to table saws but yet this is their first cordless table saw. This makes them among the few tool brands that have a cordless table saw along with Dewalt, Milwaukee, and Metabo HPT to name a few. Table saws usually sport a 10 inch blade however Ryobi’s cordless offering uses a smaller 8-1/4″ blade but to its credit, so does Dewalt’s and Milwaukee’s cordless table saws so Ryobi loses no points there. Unlike the Dewalt table saw that requires a higher voltage 60 volt battery, the Ryobi is up to the task with a single 18 volt battery which is impressive. Of course with Ryobi being an inferior brand to Dewalt and Milwaukee, their table saw doesn’t have all the nice features of the Dewalt or the Milwaukee. For example the rip cut capacity to the right tops out at only 12 inches, when the industry standard is around 24 inches to the right. It also doesn’t have the fancy rack and pinion system to move the fence with delicate precision and instead is a clamp on fence that gets the job done. While the yellow, green, and red cordless table saws use metal roll cage frame designs, Ryobi says their cordless table saw uses a “sturdy steel frame”. It might sound the same but looking at the image, it looks like a plastic frame with metal tubing on the bottom sides. Inspecting an actual unit in person will reveal if their claim of a steel frame is true. They didn’t disclose the max cutting depth of the blade but other similar sized table saws are around 2-1/2″. As far as runtime is concerned, Ryobi claims you can get up to 240 linear feet per charge but that comes with a catch and the catch is that you need two 4ah batteries to get that so really you get about 120 linear feet with a single 4ah battery. It has onboard storage for all of its accessories. I think that overall it has great potential but with one key feature holding it back from making it a good contender which is the limited 12 inch rip capacity which in my opinion limits its usefulness.

  • 18V ONE+™ HP technology delivers corded cutting performance

RYOBI™ 18V ONE+™ HP BRUSHLESS 6-1/2″ TRACK SAW
MODELS:
PTS01B (TOOL-ONLY)
PTS01K (KIT W/ 4Ah HIGH PERFORMANCE BATTERY)
MSRP: $329/$399

Track saws have been gaining popularity as they offer the precision of a table saw without the bulk and heft of a table saw and offer the portability of a regular circular saw. This makes them great choices for people with limited shop space to store a traditional table saw. Some people may think that all a track saw is is a circular saw on a track but it’s more than that. There are additional features like an oversized and enclosing upper blade guard for improved dust management in conjunction with a dust extractor and with the removal of the lower blade guard, makes them better suited for plunge cuts. In fact this track saw has an adjustable depth control knob and depth scale. Although it uses a smaller 6-1/2″ blade, it’s a normal size for track saws and the cut depth is actually pretty respectable at nearly 2 inches in depth at 1-15/16″ cut depth at 90 degrees and that’s with the track in the way. This makes it able to cut a variety of sheet goods. As far as runtime is concerned, it can cut up to 260 linear feet with a 4ah battery! Two 27.5 inch tracks are included to make up to 55 inches of straight cuts and more tracks can be purchased separately to lengthen the track.

  • 18V ONE+™ HP Technology delivers up to 260 linear feet of cutting per charge*
  • Combine (2) 27.5″ included tracks for up to 55″ of controlled, accurate cutting
  • Add additional tracks for extended continuous cutting
  • Up to 1-15/16″ depth of cut at 90° (with track)
  • -1° to 48° bevel capacity
  • Up to 4,300 RPM for controlled, accurate cuts.
  • Adjustable depth control knob
  • Depth scale for precise score and plunge cuts
  • Track adjust and anti-tip adjustments ensure smooth and accurate cuts
  • Dust port compatible with 1-1/4″ and 1-7/8″ dust collection systems
  • PTS01B includes: 18V ONE+™ HP 6-1/2″ Track Saw, 40-tooth carbide-tipped blade, (2) 27.5″ tracks, (2) track connection bars, riving knife, track clamp, blade wrench, track wrench, and operator’s manual
