The World of Shakespeare 1000-piece Jigsaw Puzzle from LKP

My family seem to have got into puzzling! We’ve always had lots of jigsaws for the kids but have recently expanded into jigsaws for grown-ups too. Our 4-year-old is really good at jigsaws so they’re a great way to keep her challenged and of course jigsaw puzzles are also a fun educational and screen-free family activity for us to do together.

We started with 250 piece puzzles and then braved into 1000 piece jigsaws after spotting the amazing and quirky collection by Laurence King Publishing.

Our first 1000-piece family jigsaw is The World of Shakespeare which is what I’ll be showing you in this blog post today.

The picture is beautiful and wonderfully detailed with lots of interesting things that you’ll discover as your work your way through the build.

The puzzle’s picture is by Adam Simpson. His work always features a strong emphasis on drawing. He has contributed to major exhibitions in London, New York, Edinburgh, Bologna and Japan. His work has been shortlisted for a British Design Award.

As you can guess, the theme is Shakespeare and this artsy jigsaw shows the London of Shakespeare’s time. There’s so much to look at! The cast rehearsing A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Globe, lots of actors wondering the streets or rehearsing in green areas of the city, Romeo and Juliet, bears, summer celebrations… There are many Tudor houses that look very similar, making the jigsaw challenging and the beautiful turquoise river that’s quite difficult too!

With your jigsaw, you get a poster that you can use as a guide when building. It’s slightly smaller than the finished puzzle size and the actual jigsaw is slightly more cropped to but it’s really helpful to have this poster to look at when you’re trying to figure out where something goes!

On the other side of the poster, there’s a guide to some of the things going on in the jigsaw so that you can learn more about the world of Shakespeare. I love this feature and my 6-year-old loved reading this and finding the scenes on the finished jigsaw.

We made this jigsaw a weekend activity for the family to do together and did a few sessions of puzzling here and there. It was really enjoyable for everyone and the feeling of achievement when you finish a 1000-piece jigsaw is so great!

We have definitely found a new family hobby!
