Designed for children ages 10 and up, Disney WordAround is a fast-paced word recognition game that challenges players to think quickly and practice their reading skills in a playful (and Disney magical!) way.
The game includes a set of 100 cards, each with three concentric circles containing letters arranged in a circular pattern. Players work to identify and read aloud the word hidden within the circles as quickly as possible. They’re using phonetic knowledge of consonants, consonant clusters, and vowels to figure out and read the correct sequence of a word.
Disney WordAround is great for word retrieval as all words are themed. Some familiar characters (like Mirabel, Aurora, and Pluto), places (Neverland, castle, and beanstalk) and a few fun ones (like dinglehopper and Tweedledee, which really had us guessing for a while!).
Although the game calls for players ages 10 and up, we had some real Disney fans that were eager to play, so teaming up was encouraged. Our Disney-loving kids were quick to jump in for the steal as some of the seasoned readers were sounding out words.
The game is great for 2 or more players, encouraging healthy competition and fostering social interaction. It’s a great game for family game nights or for classroom use, as it encourages teamwork, communication, reading, and friendly competition. So why wait?
